Diving into Lesson four of Arabic

Let's look at the verb we are working on

ضَرَبَ

By now you know how to transliterate this verb and the pattern it is formed on. You also know that when a word is formed on this pattern it is a verb and has the pronoun He in it.

What you need to remember now is that words formed on this pattern - three letters with fatha on top of each one, are verbs in the past tense

Thus, when you see a word in Arabic which has three letters each of which has fatha on top of it you will know that:

  • Is a verb
  • Is in the past tense
  • Has the pronoun He in it

In the next lesson we will look at more examples in Shaa Allah.
